Measuring up for delivery
Before purchasing large furniture pieces, ensure they can pass through your property’s access points and fit comfortably in the intended room. Check that the height, width, and diagonal depth of the item allow for smooth entry, and confirm there’s sufficient space to move around hallways, corners, and doorways.
Measure the space where the furniture will sit
Ensure the furniture will fit comfortably in the space where you plan to place it. You can find the dimensions for each item on our website and product pages. If you need any additional measurements, simply get in touch and our Customer Care team is happy to assist.
Please note that furniture can appear smaller online than it will in your home. To get an accurate sense of scale, mark out the footprint of the piece on your floor using masking tape or by creating a newspaper template.
Know our Packaging
We truly care about our products and the thoughtful work that goes into making them. To ensure they remain safe throughout transit, where unpredictable conditions and multiple handling points can pose risks, we use robust, multi-layer packaging for maximum protection. For certain products, we also use wooden crates for added safety. While these crates may make the packaging bulkier, they are essential to safeguarding the item during transport.
If the packaged item is too large to fit through your entryway or staircase, we recommend opening the carton on the ground floor and carrying the product up in smaller parts. Items such as seats, cushions can be removed to lighten the load and can be easily reassembled in the final room where the furniture will be placed.
Opening the packaging
Once your order arrives, please be advised that the delivery personnel are not authorised to wait while you unpack the items. However, if you notice any significant visible damage to the outer packaging (such as the carton or wooden crate), please bring it to the delivery person’s attention. You may then open the package yourself or with the assistance of a local carpenter if a wooden crate is involved to inspect the product.
Any damage to the product or packaging must be shown to the delivery personnel. We also recommend taking photographs of the damaged product or packaging and emailing them to tea@theafternoonlibrary.com along with your order details, so we can raise the issue with our logistics partner. Please ensure that the damage is clearly noted on the Proof of Delivery (POD) slip or Airway Bill (AWB).
Information about higher floors
The delivery team will bring large items to your building premises or to the nearest point that is physically accessible. For higher floors, they may not be equipped to carry the goods up to your doorstep. We kindly request that you arrange your own labour or manpower, either in advance or after delivery, to move the items to upper floors.
